Does a Smart Meter Require a Network Cable to Transmit Data?

Electrical Smart Power Din Rail Energy Meter is different from traditional electricity meters. IC card electricity meters can be connected to the Internet and can remotely read meters. Remote meter reading is the most important meaning of smart meters. As for how to achieve remote meter reading, smart meters have more specific implementation patterns.

The power carrier meter used by goverment, which has the largest volume, is connected to the collector through a wire, and the collector uploads the reading to the remote copy server through GPRS, so the residents of the State Grid can basically check the daily power consumption of their home through handheld power.

A smart meter does not require a network cable, so how does it achieve data transmission? Next, I will share the data transmission problem of smart meters. There are two main ways of data transmission: one is RS485 communication, and the other is power line carrier mode to receive and transmit data.

As a Measuring Devices Meter Manufacture, I will share with you a transmission method to analyze smart meters:

The first data transmission method is RS485 communication. It can realize users' remote payment, that is, self-service payment through the network. The system of the power supply bureau can charge the user after receiving the payment information from the user. After the recharge is successful, the information is sent to the concentrator of the user community. This RS485 communication method of data transmission mainly relies on GPRS or CDMA of our three major operators. Network, data is then transmitted to its own meter through RS485, so the entire data transmission is completed. If we take a closer look at the meter, we will find a logo on it. Regardless of whether the smart meter uses the power line carrier or RS485 communication to send and receive data.

Let me talk about smart meters based on the power line carrier method:

It can only be used in the same transformer circuit and transmitted to the terminal, and then the terminal wirelessly sends it to the metering system of the electric power bureau; this method is to have a module at the lower port of the meter, namely the carrier module, and the data processing in the circuit After completion, it is transmitted to the carrier module, and after the module has processed the data, it is sent to the terminal. Finally, it is transmitted to a power terminal or a power metering department via a wireless transmitter. In short, power line carriers rely on wires to transmit data. This method is also very common now, for example, public metering boxes, temporary transformers, and public distribution stations are generally measured using this method, but this method cannot pay online fees and needs to go to the power supply bureau to buy electricity. They do not require a network cable. In other words, they are wireless transmissions of the terminal.

Our company also has 1P Din Rail Meter on sale, welcome to consult.
