Diamond blades are comprised of diamond impregnated segments attached to steel core. They are used to cut cured concrete, green concrete, asphalt, brick, block, marble, granite, ceramic tile.Diamond saw blades are very important cutting tools, and how to choose the right diamond saw blades for the job can often be a challenging task. As a saw blades supplier, I will share with you 3 considerations when choosing the diamond saw blades.

Diamond Blade Cutting Material

Most materials will fall into the following categories:

Hard Material

3 Considerations When Choosing the Diamond Saw Blades

When the cutting material is hard material such as granite, clay products, flint concrete, engineering brick, a soft bond is required. Because sometimes the bond could hold the grit for too long, which would cause the blade to overheat and stop cutting. And the soft bond will release the diamond grit at the point of the maximum utilization, so it will not cause this danger. . The soft binder will release the diamond grit at the point of maximum utilization, and there is no danger of the binder pinching the diamond. If the grinding time is too long, the blade will overheat and stop cutting.

Medium-hard Material

When the cutting material is medium-hard material such as concrete products and building materials, a medium-hard bond type is required. This bond provides the proper balance required to keep the diamond abrasive grains fully exposed, while ensuring that the materials wear and bond at the correct speed .Most general purpose blades are medium bond products.

Soft Material

When the cutting material is bricks, blocks, concrete roof tiles, asphalt and other soft materials, a hard bond is required. This hard bond will hold the diamond grits longer so they can be more productive.

Diamond Blade Cutting Speed

Speed plays an important role in the service life of diamond blades. There is a direct correlation between cutting speed and blade life. However, the sawing speed has its own advantages. A slower cutting speed will extend the service life of the saw blade, while a faster sawing speed will cut the saw blade faster. In practice, for example, contractors with large projects usually choose blades with faster cutting speeds, but they must frequently replace the blades. Therefore, you should decide whether to choose a blade with a fast cutting speed according to actual needs.

Diamond Blade Cutting Method

Diamond blades are generally used for two methods of cutting – wet and dry.

Choosing wet or dry cutting may be either a matter of user preference, job requirement or the tool you are using. Smaller diamond blades, for instance, have been designed to cut dry, but can equally cut wet as well.

Dry Blades

Dry blades may be used either dry or wet as the job or equipment allows. For hand held petrol saws, dry blades are more popular, but they are often used wet as a form of dust control. But dry cutting can cause more friction to the blade requiring more frequent stops for the blade to cool and more blade changes as they wear out relatively quickly.

Wet Blades

Wet blades have to be used with water. For floor saws, wet cutting is usually the first choice because it can cut deeper when water is used as a coolant.
