Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a lightweight and completely recyclable material. It has various applications in packaging and insulation. EPS can be moulded to virtually any shape, giving unlimited freedom to designers.

We have the capacity to process large amount of EPS, Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) and other foams at our four factories, making us one of the largest EPS shape moulders in China. We have more than 60 machines that range from 400 × 600 mm to 1,300 × 1,700 mm in platen size. We are proud to say that we are reputed to be the most technically progressive and competent EPS processor in China.

Our expert in-house team handles everything, right from conceptualisation to the final product. This includes prototyping and design of the EPS part, and development and manufacturing of EPS moulds and the moulded parts.

We receive the ISO 9001:2000 certification. We have since been certified for ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018. Gold Phoenix is also the source EPS supplier to several renowned national and international brands.

Applications of EPS

EPS is one of the most cost-effective protective packaging materials available, and it is used around the world to protect goods from shipping damage. It has an extraordinary combination of lightness, rigidity and shock absorption, which is why EPS is used to package a variety of white goods and other fragile products.

EPS is widely used for low-temperature insulation because of its low thermal conductivity and closed-cell structure (most other insulation materials have an open-cell structure that makes them susceptible to moisture penetration). Because EPS has no taste or odor and is fungus-free, it is widely used in packaging for pharmaceuticals that need to maintain a tight temperature range, such as vaccines.

EPS is also used in the manufacture of internal components for the air conditioning and refrigeration industries. Earlier, these components were made by bonding insulation to metal sheets, but they have now been replaced by EPS, which combines rigidity with the required insulation properties and can be molded in one piece.

EPS is now used in India and in various countries for packaging of agricultural products. Fruits such as grapes, pomegranates, papayas, mangoes and various vegetables can be easily packaged and stored in EPS containers. The marine industry also uses EPS insulated containers extensively to store fish and other seafood.

In addition, industrial products require highly durable, safe, inert and lightweight material handling systems. These products are often expensive, so any damage to these products can be costly. EPS has been found to be used for packaging industrial products such as bottled alcohols and acids. In addition, EPS is used to make pallets that can be used to transport industrial products inside and outside of manufacturing facilities.

Another useful application for EPS is in construction. Its high thermal insulation makes EPS an excellent material for building walls and ceilings. In addition, its high sound absorption makes it ideal for sound insulation.

The latest application of EPS is as a "geotechnical foam" in landfills, made possible by its light weight, water resistance, dimensional stability and inertness.

EPS is also used in the automotive industry to manufacture interior components for vehicles. The purpose of using EPS is to fill spaces that would otherwise be occupied by very heavy metal parts and to depress the weight of the vehicle. EPS India reduces the overall weight of the vehicle, making driving easier and safer.
