1: Forget square meters, go for cubic meters

Don't be afraid to hang things from the ceiling and put your storage on the wall. It all adds up to create a sense of airiness, more floor space, and the best use of space.

2: Hack or play with custom furniture

If you're not super handy yourself, custom furniture can be an expensive affair. But in reality, it doesn't have to be expensive or difficult. Sometimes it's just a matter of focusing on the possibilities. Many companies are creating custom storage solutions without costing you financially. You can create dining tables simply by using table legs and a table top cut to your personal dimensions. 5: Create the illusion

The oldest trick in the book for making a room look bigger is the use of mirrors. There's a good reason for this, because it's easy - even if you don't have to turn your new apartment into a dance studio. Use a focal point and tilt the mirror toward it to create the illusion of depth. Another effective way to reflect the outside world back into your room is to place the mirror near a window.  

Light and wall paint have the same effect. The light opens up the room and makes it look bigger. Avoid dark corners and paint the walls with bright colors. It provides an edge and accentuates the rest of the interior.
