One pioneering nurse whose name is known to ordinary citizens, not just those in the health care field, is Florence Nightingale, "The Lady with the Lamp," whose name is synonymous with caring and advocacy. In fact, the World Health Organization has designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife - the year that coincides with the 200th anniversary of her birth.

Anna Fernandez, associate professor at American Prospect University, explains that Nightingale not only shaped modern nursing, but also influenced the development of nursing pathways. Nightingale showed me that each specialty in nursing involves its own unique area of knowledge, but our overall goal is to achieve holistic patient care based on best practices.

InnovationForever Publishing will present some facts related to nursing practice in this article to provide essay inspiration for students in this specialty.

The Epidemic

Now, more than two years into the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of infections in the modern international market continues to grow and the nursing profession is in need of more talents.

Today, Beijing issued a statement that the city will push through a long-term care insurance pilot. The long-term care insurance system will be steadily established, and efforts will be made to standardize the supply of long-term care services and encourage social forces to participate in the operation of the service. The policy of "treat first, charge later" will bring immediate benefits to the public.

Aging

China's vocational education for elderly care faces many challenges, highlighted by the lack of unified standards for the elderly care industry, the widening gap between the supply and demand of elderly care workers, the imbalance in the structure of elderly care personnel training, and the lack of integration between industry and education in the training of elderly care personnel, etc.

How to provide more economical, reasonable and effective care for the elderly and patients with chronic diseases, and continuously improve and enhance their quality of life, will be a topic worthy of nursing staff's attention and in-depth discussion.

High Technology

In the next 10 years, we will be exposed to more modern high-tech technology, which will further penetrate into health care. Some schools are currently implementing a virtual simulation training system for basic nursing, which creates a realistic virtual environment through human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence and other technologies, providing students with a better laboratory environment and more opportunities for hands-on practice.

Prevention-oriented

As nursing education shifts from patient-centered education to one that focuses on disease prevention and health promotion, the work of nursing managers will thus expand comprehensively from hospitals to primary care, community services, home care and case management.

Community care and evidence-based care will become important elements of nursing management in the future. Quantitative assessment of nursing quality and performance will become an important tool to improve the quality of nursing management.
