Call for Papers: Directions in Modern Industry and Manufacturing

We are pleased to announce that Innovation Forever Publishing Group will present the 2022 Distinguished Dissertation Award to outstanding dissertation scholars who have made an outstanding contribution and effort in the academic field. Awards will be given based on the number and quality of papers, and you can click to see the details.

Industry 4.0 is approaching maturity, and the manufacturing sector is growing steadily in the middle of the epidemic. This is a call for papers for Journal of Modern Industry and Manufacturing (JMIM, ISSN 2788-8096), a quarterly open access journal dedicated to providing an online platform for scholarly exchange between researchers and readers in the field of industry and manufacturing. Below we have provided you with some ideas and references for your papers.

Opportunities and Challenges

On April 19, 2022, the development of China's industry and information technology in the first quarter was released to the public, revealing that the output of high-tech manufacturing, new energy vehicles, solar cells and other emerging products has increased and the national "5G + industrial Internet" project has exceeded 2,400. A number of indicators show that the manufacturing structure has been adjusted and optimized and the power has been enhanced.

Thanks to the advantages of the super large-scale market, China's manufacturing industry has recovered significantly and has great potential for development. However, we need to face up to the current difficulties and challenges. Especially small and medium-sized enterprises face some difficulties in production and operation due to recent spread of the epidemic, and the manufacturing industry as a whole is under pressure.

We need to face up to the double test of epidemic prevention and development, not to stop production during the "war on epidemic" and to promote a stable and smooth supply chain of the industry.

Automation Technology

With the extensive application of the digital twin, cyber physics, big data, artificial intelligence, industrial Internet and other digital, intelligent technology in the industrial field, the digital, intelligent capacity is gradually become the basic strategic capacity of the future development of the equipment manufacturing industry. On January 12, 2022, the State Council officially issued the "fourteen five" digital economy development planning", pointing out that "it is necessary to deepen the digital transformation of industry, accelerate the digital transformation of the whole life cycle of research and development, including manufacturing, operation and management, and market services, vigorously promote the digitalization of equipment, carry out special pilot demonstration of intelligent manufacturing, and improve the national intelligent manufacturing standard system.

Workers' well-being

Since GNP does not provide a complete description of the living standard of residents, the well-being of residents is becoming an important measure of social prosperity. In this context, the EU proposed the Industry 5.0 initiative in 2021, calling for a human-centered manufacturing industry, which puts workers' well-being at the core of the manufacturing process.

The basic principle of human-centeredness is that "people should never be subservient to machines and automation, but machines and automation should be subservient to people". However, human-centered manufacturing is still a vague concept that requires in-depth systematic research.

Risk assessment

It is often difficult for companies to figure out how much to invest in cybersecurity that is sufficient to reduce risk to an acceptable level. What are the criteria for adequacy and what else is needed?

A cybersecurity risk assessment (CRA) is the process of identifying, analyzing and evaluating the risks an organization may face in the event of a cyber attack or data breach. Many manufacturers face the risk of cyber security damaging their revenue and reputation, and a cyber security risk assessment should be part of the risk management process for any industrial enterprise.

JMIM welcomes researchers, scientists, engineers, research institutions and others to present your authoritative, innovative and insightful work through this journal publication to improve knowledge in industry and manufacturing. In addition to the four listed above, topics include but are not limited to job design and analysis, training and education, safety and injury prevention, etc. Please check our JMIM page for details.
