What Is Spread Tow Carbon Fiber Fabric?
Spread tow technology flattens and widens carbon fiber tows by 3–5 times their original width, creating a single-layer fabric with a thickness below 0.05mm. The result is a next-generation reinforcement material that dramatically improves surface finish, weight reduction, and mechanical performance.
Through a special widening process, carbon fiber filaments are calendered to 3 to 5 times their original width to form an extremely thin layer material with a single-layer thickness of less than 0.05mm, achieving:
● The surface density is reduced by 40% (up to a minimum of 30g/m²).
● Fiber straightness > 98% (eliminating the bending loss of traditional woven fabrics)
● Porosity < 0.3% (resin impregnation rate is increased by 2 times)
