UV Resistance: Differentiating and Combining HALS and UVA Light Stabilizers

Under the context of increasingly harsh outdoor service environments and high-intensity ultraviolet radiation, the "photo-oxidative aging" resistance of plastic products has become a core indicator for measuring quality. Whether it is outdoor architectural profiles, automotive exterior parts, or agricultural films, without scientific light stabilization protection, they will suffer from powdering, cracking, fading, and loss of mechanical properties in a short period.

1. Physical Shielding vs. Chemical Trapping: Two Different Defense Logics

To protect polymers, UV degradation must be blocked from two dimensions:

UV Absorbers (UVA) —— "The First Line of Defense"

Representative Products: Leadstab UV-P, Leadstab UV-326, Leadstab UV-329

Mechanism: They act like "sunshades" or "sunscreen." UVAs can strongly absorb UV light in the 290-400nm band, converting high-energy UV rays into harmless thermal energy through internal molecular rearrangement and releasing it.

Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS) —— "Core Repairers"

Representative Products: Leadstab UV-944, Leadstab UV-770, Leadstab UV-622

Mechanism: They do not absorb UV rays, but they can "trap" the free radicals generated after the molecular chains are destroyed by UV rays. HALS possesses the magical "Denisov Cycle" mechanism, achieving self-regeneration after trapping free radicals, thereby providing long-lasting protection.
