Align Deck Feed Entry Points to Eliminate Cross-Deck Material Spillage

The second critical layout adjustment that eliminates 90% of unexpected product cross-contamination is carefully aligning the feed entry points between every deck in your flat-top woven screen multi-deck layout, so the material that falls off the discharge end of the upper deck lands perfectly centered on the feed end of the deck below it. Many older multi-deck screen machines have misaligned discharge chutes that dump the upper deck’s oversize stream right onto the edge of the lower deck, making material slide straight off the side of the mesh and into the wrong discharge hopper, contaminating finished product fractions that took hours of processing to produce. Adding simple adjustable curved transfer chutes between every deck lets you fine-tune exactly where the upper deck’s material lands on the deck below, ensuring every stream spreads evenly across the full width of the lower deck’s feed end, no off-center dumping or edge spillage. Most operations that adjusted these transfer points reported that cross-contamination between different product fractions dropped from 15% down to less than 2%, completely eliminating the need to reprocess mixed off-spec material.
